Cuteness alert!!! Patty Young of MODKID fame has just released a new book/pattern pack through Stash Books! Summer Fun contains all the right elements to make your 18" doll a complete summer wardrobe.
I've known Patty for about a decade. I first "met" her through eBay boutique when our kids were little babies, and then watched her blossom into a popular fabric designer with Michael Miller. She has such a talent for fresh, colorful artwork and themes. On top of that, she is absolutely meticulous when it comes patternmaking and instruction writing. Her neat illustrations make the sewing process easy and fun.
If you've looked through the American Girl catalog, you know that little details are VERY important. This packet contains patterns and instructions to make a wardrobe of stylish clothing and tiny accessories. It really has everything you need to set dolly up for an amazing vacation.
Patty contributed an adorable sunhat pattern to my first book, Sewn Hats. I was giddy to see the mini-me version in this packet, and I just had to make one! It sewed up perfectly and quickly. I tried the hat on several dolls, and it was a great fit on everyone from newer Mattel AG to old school Pleasant Company AG (slightly bigger head) and bald Bitty Baby. My 18" doll from Adora modeled for the pictures.

My girls have three American Girl 18" dolls and Ahnalin has a Bitty Baby too. We gave them their first AG dolls and they saved up and paid for the rest of them. And someday.......I want to buy my own AG doll that is just for me to play with. 😄 I love sewing doll clothes for them.

My granddaughters both have AG dolls and I'm excited to make clothes for their dolls. When I was young, my neighbor made doll clothes for my dolls and I was thrilled.

ReplyDeleteMy doll collection oh my, well I have 3 dolls that are mine from when I was young, 1 has seen better days, but the other 2 are almost like new so I don't allow my 3 yr.old daughter to play with them, she has her own dolls and they range from small to large, and they are ALL naked, except the one I took pity on and made a bikini for. SO I really need this book.

Have a number of dolls I could sew for, including a 14" Betsy McCall, and have been tempted to treat myself to an American Girl doll just to sew for. I am only 61 years old but I still play with dolls.

Lately shes been asking me to sew her doll clothes, but im tempted to get her FINALLY involved in sewing :) This book looks like such fun!

ReplyDeleteSo far my little girl just has two smaller dolls. Maybe a 15 inch as the largest? I am hoping to get her a Target doll or a different knock-off AG doll for her 3rd birthday. Plus I have high ambitions to sew her a Waldorf inspired doll someday. :)
ReplyDeleteI really pared down my doll collection several years ago, but I kept my two 18" dolls. Now I have a little girl and I got Jennifer and Jenae out of storage for her to play with. But they definitely need new clothes! Jenae doesn't have any clothes at all (how did that happen?).

ReplyDeleteI had a random collection of dolls growing up and I saved a few for my kids. My daughter says they are ugly and won't play with them. Ha! Now we have an assortment of dolls at our house. The AG dolls are by far the most loved!

ReplyDeleteDo we have a doll collection! My five daughters have long loved on their baby dolls, but now that the older girls are 8 and 6, they incorporate their dolls into playtime. It is such fun to watch their imaginations grow. I would make good use of Patty's book!
