MY momiform and it's makeover!

My usual fall and winter wear is yoga pants with a long sleeve tee layered with a husband's sweater to try and keep warm.... I don't do well with cold ... and I look like a Olsen twin crossed with a cat lady. 

So, my goal this momiform makeover was to make myself a long sleeve tunic to wear with tights and a little something extra to cozy it up!

For the long sleeve tunic I used the Sisboom Devon pattern and did one of the longest lengths and then did an elastic waist.

I also deepened the slit in the front and skipped the ties. I added some elastic to the sleeves.

For the cozy outer layer I decided to get creative and used the Bowling Shirt pattern and made a tie it up cardi with a collar!

I did a fun flannel outer and a cozy plain flannel inside. Double layers of flannel should keep me warm all winter long as a layer and a coat this fall.

The cardi is awesome open or tied. The sash helps it have some shape in the back when open and when tied as well.

Just for ME January! Week 3: Comfy and Cozy

Ah week 3. The week that suits me best in January weather! I know there is nothing I want to do more than spend my day being comfy and cozy.  Eat some carb loaded foods and binge watch tv series. What is your favourite series to binge watch? (or a recent binge watch you recommend?)

Our date night winner is April in her gorgeous Carolina Mae !

For my comfy and cozy look I pulled some corduroy off the shelf and got out the bowling shirt and the Judy fancy pants patterns

I lengthened the sleeve of the bowling shirt by comparing to a sleeve pattern I love the length of and a few inches extra for luck. Then sew up as per the pattern! It is that easy :)

I am in LOVE with my corduroy jammies!!!! They are sooo cozy! and warmer than flannel ones! Why is it I never have seen corduroy jammies in the store?? People are missing out on goodness here. You really MUST add this to your to sew list if you live anywhere chilly!

Today I am going to feature the pattern we have in the bundle - the Bowling Shirt! I used the bowling shirt pattern to make my little animal loving Berry a doctor coat! 

I was able to cut and sew the bowling shirt in one evening after I put the kids to bed! I used snaps instead of buttonholes since this is more of a dress up shirt. The way the construction is done the placket goes on after you have done the buttonholes so if you mess up you will not have to bin your whole shirt - just re-do the placket! LOVE that!

Bowl-O-Rama

I'm happy to say that my new eBook is listed on YCMT, and I'm back in the swing of making gifts! I used my Bowling Shirt Pattern to make these presents for some of my rowdy girlfriends. Actually, the shirts are for their kids, but hopefully they will bring back memories of all the crazy things we did back in the day. Things like...


...going out for sushi. We girls could put some hurt on a "boat!"



...gossiping around the chimnea on warm summer nights.


...planting flats and flats of peas so that we could isolate the chloroplasts from the seedlings. There is no better bonding experience than cleaning up the gooey green aftermath of that procedure!


This last one is for my Louie. One our former neighbors used to say he was a "card," so this fabric always makes me think of him.

There only FOUR days left of the "Thrifty Under Fifty" challenge, and I still have lots to do. I still need to make pajamas for Louie, pants/shirts for Louie, finish three dollies, two name pillows, a quilted runner, and some handbags. I'd better get to work!!!
