Perfectly Preppy Skort goes to Pants!

Now I know what you are thinking; "why should I modify the preppy bloomers into capris when I can use the easy fits pattern with ease?"

Here is the answer to that! Yes the easy fits are FAB! and great for little capri's under dresses. BUT these have the flat front of the easy fits, and are a narrower fit. 

and lucky for you - VERY easy to change up! 

If you followed the making the preppy into shorties tutorial you know about adding the top length already. But I've made a little graphic of the pattern change anyways to clear up any confusion!!

and they really are just perfect for under dresses. just peek out the bottom, but add a little modesty for play (and an extra layer for play protection ... 

So there you go, the pattern with so many options it comes in chapters just gave you TWO more reasons to pick it up!!!! Plus as you have likely noticed by now - we've lowered all the prices in our Etsy shop!

Shelling Shorties Tutorial!

Have you pinned a pair of these little shorties lately? I know I did, and Judy did because we chatted our love ... and then talked about how to get the look without a new pattern and this is what happened! 

The Perfectly Preppy Skort pattern is PERFECT and perfectly easy to modify into these shelling shorties!  and how perfectly adorable don't they look with a nice flowing short shirt! 

The shirt is the top of the Carly bubble romper with a gathered skirt added to it btw :) 

Guys, this is how easy it is.... Take the bloomers pattern, do not overlap shaded bits - it needs the little extra width for these and then tape the yoke to the bloomer bottoms. 

You'll sew them up as described for sewing the shorts. then decide where you want the elastic front gathering to be. I ironed a crease so it would be easy to see and mark. 

Then I grabbed a ruler and marked how high I wanted the elastic to go. Cheeks is in 2T size and I went up 4.5inches. or just under half way.

Then cut a piece of elastic the at max stretch is the length of your line. and pin at the top and at the bottom. Then you simply sew on the line and keep the elastic stretched as you go.

Here you can see it sewed. 

I added little bows to the front at the top of the gathering. you don;t have to, I just thought it was cute.

Now, bring on the summer!!!!

Getting Ready for Easter with KCW

I used the All the Rage Raglan pattern for the shirt and the Perfectly Preppy for the skort.

In my mind the looser fit shirt looked amazing with the skirt - casual and went with the pastels in the skirt kind of style. In actuality I wish I had followed the pattern directions to size down for a closer fit. Oh well, The shirt is SUPER cute with jeggings so it will get worn to Easter brunch

Because I knew I wanted the shirt not to be all loos at the bottom as I made it a looser fit in the top I left an inch open when I did the hem and threaded elastic through and then stitched it closed. This gives the shirt a cute "bubble" effect.
