How to make the Jamie into a nursing dress. A photo tutorial.

Jodi Took our Jamie pattern and made it into this gorgeous nursing friendly dress!

Jodi reinforced the corneer of the lining with some iron on interfacing and then put a snap through the elastic and out the lining on both sends of the top. Then top stitch the casing where the elastic is.

Then sew in 2 old bra straps

and here is the front with the elastic and bra straps in. The snap is on the inside front so you can't see it from the outside

Here are some close ups of the front so you can get a good look at what Jodi has done.

A huge THANK-YOU!!!!! To Jodi and her lovely model for these pictures and the how to!

As you can see below the dress looks exactly as the original when all snapped up!

I hope this tutorial helps and encourages all the breastfeeding moms out there that you can, in fact, sew pretty, fitted dresses for yourself and not have your baby go hungry!

Thanks again Jodi! You are amazing!

I love the fabric colors and it was perfection how she modified the dress to accommodate nursing her baby. I wish there had been adequate clothing for nursing mothers when I had my babies. I had to practically undress just to feed my child.

Sew clever! Wish I'd had one when I was nursing my babies! Of course, it's been almost 27 years since the last time I did...8-)

Necessity is the nursing mother of invention!!

I have less than a month til my sis-in-love is getting married, and I'm having next to no luck in finding something to wear to it. Do you think this is easy enough to sew with two little's in the house? Can I make it with lace? I want to make sure this is possible before I buy the pattern. (what material is recommended?)

Sorry to ask so many hurried questions!

Hi WinterDenim,
I'm hoping you come back to check this reply :)

I (Jeanine) have 2 littles in the house and I usually sew at naps or bedtimes. but if you are going to sew while the kids are awake I'd say to give yourself 3 days since if yours are anything like mine you'll be interrupted every 5minutes. You could do a lace overlay. Woven cotton is recommended.
